followed in the footsteps of his sister, mother and grandfather in joining
the local village band in East Sussex when aged 7. He played the cornet,
flugal and tenor horn and joined the National Youth Brass Band in 1953 where
he enjoyed playing under the leadership of such well-known musicians as
Dennis Wright, Norman Ashcroft, Eric Ball and Sir Adrian Boult. Married
with 2 sons and one granddaughter, David lives with his wife, Anne, in Stelling
Minnis, near Canterbury and has recently retired after working 41 years
in the NatWest Bank. He joined The City of Canterbury Brass Band in 1997
and is the Choirmaster at Upper Hardres Church, with whom the Band recently
recorded a CD and Cassette entitled "Footsteps", a musical walk through
the changing scenes of the year. |
